Touched by an Angel
The complete First Season on DVD
Touched by an Angel is a wonderful television that lasted for nine years, but even while they were filming the ninth episode aired (the very famous "Fear Not" Christmas episode), they weren't confident at all whether they'd even get to finish the first season.
My mother and I have been taping Touched by an Angel ever since that first season, and we haven't seen an episode we didn't like, and we loved many of them. Even though we have most of the episodes on video tape, I couldn't resist ordering this DVD package almost immediately after it came out.
What amazes me are the things that I'm seeing this time around that I don't remember seeing the first time I saw each episode. Last night, I watched "Fear Not" (the first season Christmas episode) and I was surprised to see that the camel and other animals had come to life. I just remember them as wood-cut-out-silhouettes.
One thing I like about the series is that MOST of the time, they do not focus on one religion over another, but when they do focus on one religion, I find that I learn things about that system of belief. It is my opinion that the producers of Touched by an Angel must believe that all religions worship the same infinite being.
A very nice feature of the packaging is that each DVD is inside its own thin case. The four cases then fit inside the "Season package". I like the fact that I can pull out the cover for disk 1 and see summaries of everything on that disk. It's much handier than a booklet inside a booklike DVD package.
I only have one complaint, and that is that they didn't give us the weekly teasers, where you'd see a hint of what was to come next week. That would have been a nice plus, which I've seen done in other collections.
The first season DVD includes all 13 episodes from the first season, the two-part season finale from the ninth season, and several extras including commentaries on four of the episodes (I learned a lot from them), an extended 60-minutes interview, and "Touched by an Angel Says Farewell". Whether you've seen them on TV or not, I highly recommend the entire DVD series. I know we'll be purchasing every season as they are released.

I especially recommend that you purchase Wonderfalls - The Complete Series,
the entire 13-episode run of the Fox TV series. The show was canceled
after only four episodes were aired, but thirteen were "in the can".
